Road trip ketika hamil

Had a short vacay to Singapore with the in-laws a few days back. Giler lah! I thought the anticipated trip would be just the thing for me right now but it was horrible! Totally NOT what i expected.
 
 
Sitting co-pilot with cushions for my back didn't help. Throughout the journey i was feeling nauseated, and the back pains keep coming. Pastu, lepas jalan2 skit, letih yang teramat.
 
Then pulak rase senak perut, sembelit and seangkatan dengannya. Nasib baik 2nd night u, dapat larikan diri and rest dalam bilik. Letak je kepala kat bantal, dah ngorok. Nasib je lom makan n mandi lagi, so paksa gak diri bgn and makan before continue sleeping.
 
On the last day kat situ, just before travelling back to KL, perut meragam bagai nk rak! Rase nk pitam ade, macam isi perut semua nk terkluar pun ade. Tahan jelah sampai kat pitstop, salin seluar yang lagi comfortable.
 
Ni sheena nak list down bende2 yg patut ade if you plan on a road-trip especially for those routes yang take 4 hours and more.
 
Road-trip must haves for early pregnancy
1. Bring plenty of cushions to keep you comfortable
2. Bring selimut and stokin gak, especially if you travel night
3. Wear the most comfortable slippers/sandals (xyah nk giler glamour. Seksa)
4. Wear breathable clothing
5. Make sure you have asam-boi or bende2 yg masam2
6. Minyak kapak / tiger balm / minyak yu-yi cap limau / minyak angin
7. HIDRATE! Bring lotsa water
8. Stop for stretching breaks throughout the journey (ikut keperluan lah. jgn kerap sgt, kang tak sampai2 destinasi)
9. Plan the trip well. Bende kelam kabut, otak pun leh serabut. 0_o

1st Trimester Blues - Perkara yg org TAK BAGITAU tentang pregnancy

Salam semua,
 
Alhamdulillah, i am still surviving. Dah masuk brape kali dah ni MC, loya tekak and mengigil satu hari. Muntah2 tu taklah byk, kengkadang je, tapi mabuk takyah cakap lah.. Ngalah dok atas bot nak gi Perhentian dulu!
 
Anyways, if tgk website2 mat salleh kan, nampak semua mcm cool je pergnant kan? Semua nampak cam ceria je. Ni bende2 yg org TAK BGTAU tentang pregnancy.
 
1. Kite akan rase badan ni gemuk sgt and bloated macam ikan paus.
2. Penat yang teramat sampai boleh menjejaskan pretasi keje.
3. Loya tekak and tak boleh makan apa2. Rase macam semua nk kluar balik. Tapi bile tak makan or lamabt sikit je makan, loya menjadi2.
4. Susah nk explain kat org lain coz actually kite je yg tau cammane rase badan kite time tu.
5. Mood swing. Skejap happy, skejap rase sedih. Pelik kan.
6. Rase risau 24/7 coz 1st trimester ni lah paling sensitive and rate of miscarriage tinggi.

I know i've been trying so hard to conceive, and rase bersalah pulak if i'm to rant now. Kang nampak cam tak bersyukur pulak. But i really really want first trimester to end fast and with ease...

Extreme Fatigue in 1st Trimester Pregnancy

Seriously... I am trying to stay awake as i type this.......... This is what i have been reduced to these past weeks. A sleepyhead. Very unbecoming of someone climbing the coporate ladder. But, with the huge hormonal change and rage, i have found it hard to NOT yawn at 11am.
 
 
 
My production level has dropped to a 10 from the 110 that i have been giving at work. I feel so useless and can't imagine what other effect it will have on my job. As usual, i Google-ed this symptom and apparently its normal! And it will last till i reach 2nd trimester! Homai!! That is more than a month away... How will i get thru it.

Is it common to be exhausted when you're pregnant?

Fatigue is particularly common during the first trimester and tends to return in late pregnancy. Some women feel tired throughout pregnancy, however, and some hardly seem to slow down at all.
Many women feel constantly tired in early pregnancy, even before they're showing or carrying any extra weight. Even night owls may find themselves struggling to stay awake long enough to watch their favorite eight o'clock show.

No one knows for sure what causes early pregnancy fatigue, but it's possible that hormonal changes – in particular, a dramatic rise in progesterone – are at least partly to blame. It's also hard to get a
good night's sleep if you're uncomfortable or getting up to use the bathroom frequently.

Nausea and vomiting can certainly cost you energy. You may also be feeling anxious about your pregnancy, which can be draining. Add it all up and it's no wonder you feel as though you've run a marathon by the end of the day.

Note that if you're feeling sad or hopeless, depression may be partly to blame for your fatigue or sleeplessness. If you feel unable to handle your daily responsibilities or are having thoughts of harming yourself, call your doctor or midwife immediately for a referral to a counselor.

Fatigue can also be a symptom of iron-deficiency anemia, which is not uncommon in pregnancy. (You may not have any symptoms, however, if you're only mildly anemic.) Your practitioner will test your blood for this condition at your first prenatal visit and again in your late second trimester or early third trimester.

How long will this feeling last?

It's different for everyone, but you'll probably start to feel like your old self during your second trimester. Then you'll probably begin to lose steam again by the time you're around seven months pregnant.

At that point you'll be carrying more weight and may be having trouble sleeping well for a variety of reasons, including backache, heartburn, leg cramps or restless legs syndrome, the baby moving around, and especially the need to pee frequently.

What can I do to cope?

Heed your body's signals. Start by going to bed earlier than usual. And make a habit of taking a nap during the day. Even a 15-minute catnap can make a difference, so if you work in an office and you're lucky enough to have a door, shut it, put your head down on your desk, and rest. Or get creative: Look for an empty lounge or conference room or lie down in the back seat of your car.

Try to adjust your schedule. Cut out unnecessary social commitments and let the housework slide. If you work outside the home, see if you can cut back on your hours or arrange to take work home over the weekend so you can cut out early once in a while. Take an occasional vacation day in the middle of the week (or a sick day if you're not feeling well). If you're a stay-at-home mom, give yourself a break now and then and leave your children with someone else so you can catch up on your sleep.

Make sure you're eating right. You need about 300 extra calories every day – and we're not talking about potato chips and candy bars. A healthy diet made up of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, skim milk, and lean meats can be energizing. Junk food, by contrast, actually saps you of vim and vigor. Snack on healthy foods like fruit and yogurt.
Keep well hydrated. Cut back on caffeine and make sure you're drinking plenty of water. If frequent urination is keeping you up at night, try cutting back your fluid intake a few hours before bedtime and make up for it during the day.

Get some moderate exercise every day. You may feel like you barely have the energy to make it through the day, let alone exercise. But moderate activity, such as a short
walk, can actually make you feel better. So unless your caregiver has advised you otherwise, make exercise part of your daily routine. Also, try to take frequent breaks throughout your day to stretch and breathe deeply.

Hang in there. If first-trimester fatigue is getting you down, take heart that soon enough you'll be in your second trimester and raring to go again. You may even be up to taking in the late show or going on a weekend getaway. If you're nearing the end of your pregnancy, you'll be a new mom before you know it, looking back on this period of relatively undisturbed nights with bleary-eyed nostalgia. So consider stocking up on your zz's while you can.

Minum Susu semasa Kehamilan

Ever since the day i found out, there have been numerous tips shared to me :) Semua i will take in and absorb ye. If not all yet, slowly but surely. Antara yg paling kerap dengar is 'Minum susu banyak2. Nanti tulang baby cepat membentuk.' Me? Susu?? Biar betul............................................
 
Siape yg mmg dah kenal sheena lame, luar dah dalam, mmg tau, i don't take anything dairy. Because of (1) mmg tak ske bau and rase die and (2) lacto intolerant. So bukan buat2 hokay. Body saya mmg takleh nk terima susu, nanti purging n cirit birit.
 
Tapi oleh kerana tau ia sangat2 penting, i tried it nontheless. Bukan maternal milk pun, it was Anlene. Tapi, i insisted it must be flavoured. So sayangku belikan gak Dutch Lady Strawberry. Ni mmg sure leh minum. heheheeee..



Hasil tangkapan ku. Verdict - Memula nak bau pun boleh muntah. Bluweeek bluweeek. Bukan morning sickness ye kengakawan, mmg takleh nak bau. Teguk gak and now, dah biase ngan taste and bau die, no more ngedik2 nk muntah. BUT. Since i am lacto intolerant, i have been getting severe cirit birit. Sampaikan rase mcm air je yang kluar. Takut pun ade. So next week, jmp doctor (yeay! my first antenatal appointment!) nk tanye if okay ke tak. Tapi kan... itu just the first 2-3 days je. Then cirit tu dah ilang. Maybe badan dah imune kott ngan lacto. Subhannallah... Kuasa Allah kan, ngan izinNya, now i can drink milk for my baby :|
 
Anyways............ Back to maternal milk. Google punye Google, baru terfikir kat diri sendiri. Nape tak minum maternal milk je kan? Lagi banyak nutrients die. Hahahaa. Sengal gak aku ni kengkadang. Maybe this gaji baru beli. Nak try mintak samplers first.
 
Choices pun banyak. Ade Friso Mom Gold, Anmum Materna, Mamil dan lain-lain. Any ideas mane yg okay? Mane yg tak rase sgt susu nyer tu.

Temperature Spikes in Early Pregnancy

 
I was beginning to worry on my lack of the normal symptoms usually associated with pregnancy. Yesterday however, just as i reached home, i felt funny.
 
Tetiba temperature badan naik mendadak. Not like just naik, but i was literally having goosebumps and was shivering. Tapak kaki plak sejuk membeku. Nak kate malam smalam sejuk, tak pun. Nak jadikan cerita, Marzuki plak keje lewat. Nak tak nak terpaksa tahan jelah.
 
Nak tido pun tak boleh. So baring2lah depan sofa. Time tu nk sgt makan ubat, but teringat everyone advising me against taking any meds without doctors consulatation. Called mama and she said to take one panadol. Just one to reduce the temperature, but i went against it. So tahan jelah. Ayah pulak dah woried and called tanyer how i am.
 
Sibok dok google kat babycentre psl temperature spikes. Luckily cam ramai jer yg experience the same thing.
 
Ape2 pun, alhamdulillah, die balik je, panas pun kebah. And... Dapat mkn KFC!!

5 Weeks - Symptoms and selera makan ilang

Today im entering the 5W mark. Call me paranoid, but seeing its my first, i really need to familiarise and understand my body.

Semua org ckp yg 1st trimester ni the most challenging, psl hormonal changes yg mendadak. But im not feeling it. Maybe im the lucky few yg tk teruk kn hit with the infamous Morning Sickness.

Yang pelik nyer, i lost all my appetite for food. Perut dh macam keroncong teruk, but i takde rs langsung nk makan. Tak tau nk makan. So paksa diri lh gak nk telan roti ke, mee sedap ke.

Satu lg symptom is my lost of symptom. Mase 3W - 4W, my nipples n breast rase sore, tp skang ni, cam dh takde pape rase. Worried hokay........

Yg ke3. I have crampings mcm sebelum peyed nk sampai. Ni yg memula buat i paranoid. Yelah, mane tak paranoid, dh lah kite tau kite preggy, then leh plak rase cramping mcm tu.

Problem ke pregnancy ni?! So i trusted my most trusted teacher and Googled the answers... 'Cramps during early pregnancy' ' losing appetite in first trimester' 'symptoms comes and goes'.

Phew~ glad to know that im not the only one having these and its ac- tually normal. Tapiiiiiiiiii i will tanye gak doctor nnti just to calm me down. :-)

Next ANC appointmnt is on the 28th. Yeay! My first real appointment wth a gynae!! Feeling mommy to be already ni. In the meantime, i am also tryung to seriously cutting dwn on my ciggies. Nk stop mendadak tk boleh. Tkt stressful to me. So im cutting to 10/day, then 8 staring esok, then 5 only before quitting! Yess... Akhirnya.. InsyAllah.... Maybe this time i boleh quit ngan senang..

The day i found out - Part II

Heyya heyya, remember earlier i was relating my first hours post-finding out im preggers? Now here's the continuation.

After the visit to the doctor and confirming mu pregnancy, we went back to my parents. Nak break the news to mama first.

"ma, i got sumthing to tell you.." "knape?"
Rub tummy and instantly mama menjerit "serious? Betul ni??! ALhamdulillah"

Terus mama bgn and hug me and cried. Best feeling ever. It was very short coz mama tgh rush to get aome work done for her meeting in an hours time.

Well, ayah pun about the same lah. Hehheeehe. Sronok tgk mama n ayah happy mcm ni. Terus...... "Jgn lasak2 sgt. U susah nk sangkut, jage elok2" "jaga diri, stop smoking" and the list continues.........

Shortly pastu, we drove bck to keramat. Ingat tk nk bgtau dulu, or nl sowh kiki break the news to his family... Masuk2 je pintu, die dh announce kt ive got sumthing to tell. Cycle continues with all my in-laws breaking into shouts n tears and more hugging. Alhamdullilah..... I am liking the feeling this news brings..

Time tu, dh brape kali dh dalam mase brape jam i mengalir air mate. Seyes emotional abis.

Kn jumpa Mak Esah pulak pasni (you should remember her frm one of my earlier posts). Mak urut2 n bg air yasin.. And Mak nasihatkan sowh amalkan zikir Ya Mubdi. Dgn niat supaya Allah kekalkan kandungan ini.. InsyAllah, akan amalkan sekerap mungkin.

The day i found out


Last Wednesday was the happiest day in my life. Lepas all the turbulance of trying to conceive, akhirnya, dengan izin Allah SWT, doa kami dimakbulkan... Alhamdulillah...
 
I was actively into my health-concious stage. Getting all hyped up with bootcamp for the two weeks prior to the date. Ntah macam mane, tergerak hati nak check since mmg dah lambat beberape hari dh pun. My main concern was, i have been super active in the intensive bootcamp, misal kate if i preggy, mcm mane? Risau gak. Dahlah nk conceive kemain susah, so i rather not take the risk. if the result -ve, then takpelah, at least i know.
 
So pegi lah beli home pregnancy kit. This time around, i wasn't as excited to check like the many months before. Bile test, terkejut tgk laju je indicator tu tukar colour. Knowing from experience, it definitely shows im +ve! Tapi still macam tak caye. So kelam kabut check kotak. Okaay... Betul ke ni??! Alhamdulillah, bu betul ke??
 
'MARZUKI! CEPAT BANGUN!'
'Kenape sayang?'
'Awak. Saya rase saya pregnant. Saya pregnant lah!'
Dengan muka n suara mamai 'Alhamdulillah. Mane awak tau?'
'Cer awak tgk indicator ni.'
'Cammane nk tgk ni? Cammaner nk tau pregnant ke tak?'
'A'ah lah.. Alhamdulillah.. Nanti kite gi check doctor ye.'
 
So itulah kejadian pada kul 7.30am, 14 November 2012.
 
Contemplating to check with the doctor. Thought that its still too early to check and i should just wait maybe till end of the month. But instinct (and tonnes of excitement) told me to do so on the same day. Esp because i was geared up for 3 straight days of bootcamp. Actually dah prepare ingat lepas bgn nk wat Jillian nyer workout. Terbantut semua.
 
Tapi blank skejap. So dah tau nak buat ape? Nak gi doctor ape? Gynae or normal doc? Nak cakap ape? Rase mcm org bodoh lah jugak kan. So after i composed myself, sembang lah ngan Tuty and Kak Nani. Both told me to head to the gynae for confirmation and advise on my workout regime.
 
Akhirnya, after bfast, we headed to Hospital UMRA. Memula nak check kat METRO IVF, but decided on UMRA since we didn't have to wait and METRO IVF is a little costly.
 
Blaablaabla, waited for nearly an hour before being called to see the doctor. Don't remember her name, nanti update ape name die. Nice lady, then chit-chatted a little wth history, thn she said lets do the scan.
 
Can't see anything yet, just round thick ball. Then she said im 4 weeks pregnant.. omorrow will be my 5th week already. Heheeehe. No congratulations pun from her. What a bummer.

Yet another false alarm


Counting days and taking notes on my bodily changes dah jadi routine baru ku. So bile aritu dah nk dekat ngan my supposedly 1st day of the new cycle, jadi excited lebih and anxious tak tentu pasal. Symptom2 yang memang selalu ade time2 nak period tu semua complete, so mmg dr awal dah kate 'ni sure period lah ni'. 

Tapi kan, tau2 mase hari yg sepatutnyer tu, die tak mai. Hoh! Excited bagai nk rak!! Siap pi beli clearblue lagik pas keje. Yelah, mane lah tau kalau2 lekat ke. *nak sedapkan hati* heheheeee...

Pastu, ni i tak sure if its my mind reacting to the hormonal changes or its signs and symptoms. Demam mendadak tetiba, muntah2 and letih. But i think i know my body and this is certainly not normal. On the 2nd day of my missed period, i did the home pregnancy test. Negative.. Dalam hati: 'Maybe ni baru sgt kott. Maybe hormones dlm badan tk byk lagik.Maybe urine diluted sgt kott coz buat malam2' So the next day, i did another one (excited lebih hokay!) at my first morning urine. Waited and saw the change of colour on the strip rising. 1st window '-' sign. Then another | sign on the other window! Yess!!!! Giler excited! im preggy! Im preggy! I am pregnant!! Alhamdulillah.. 

Cepat2 jerit kat Kiki nk bgtau the good news. 

Suddenly ntah kenape, i said 'eh jap eh' and checked the box and instruction manual for the kit. Alaah. Sorry sayang, I silap tgk. Negative lah result die. The 2nd window to is an indicator that the kit is ready for reading. Hampeh. Takpe. Tunggu lagik. Kiki kate jgn check lagik. Tunggu smp next week.

Hari esok nyer tu, kat keje rase cramping cam slalu tu. Check2, takde pape pun, just spotting. Sikit sgt. the whole day cramping tu ade je, tp tk taruk pun just body rase tak sedap. This lasted for two days. On the evening of the 2nd day of spotting, perut, pinggang belakang full blown sakit. Check, still nothing. Dah start risau dah sebenarnyer, and we decide to go to Mak Esah.

Mak Esah urut and die kate 'Ni tak lekat ni. Tak rase ape2 pun. Maybe sakit tu psl die nk turun kott.' Luluh and sebak giler mase dgr tu. Seious, slalu boleh tahan emotions depan org, but this time, tears just flow there and then and takleh stop. Mak Esah kate jgn sedih2, rosak badan nanti. 

Esok nyer br period. Tu pun takde lah banyak cam slalu pun. Still sikit je. Tapi sakit die, Ya Rabbi! Sumpah ni lah the worst ever period pain that i have gone through. Siang tu pas b'fast telan painkiller. Tahan dalm 3 jam lebih then start balik. Gagah kan diri balik rumah in-laws coz Kiki dah rindu nk balik. The whole day teruk giler sampai lah in the end, the family ended up having to sent me to the clinic.

That lasted till the next day. But the next day the pain comes and goes. But when it comes, its severe. Sigh...

Sedih ni tak ilang lagik, tp nk go thru the emotional roller coaster once again, cam dah tk larat lah.  Tak larat nk get my hopes dashed. Tapi note to self: Tak boleh putus asa. Allah benci org yg putus asa. Just berdoa banyak dimurahkan rezeki..

i will know soon

dah try mcm2 n in a few days, i will knw if lekat ke tak. the whole initial procedures dah buat procedure yg sakit, ygsakit suam2 je, and yang sakit cam nak mati. pasni kn tunggu dn lihat jelah. redha ngan keputusan Allah. if ada, alhamduliilah, if x lekat gak, belum time.

feelings now, sgt anxious. try gak nak block it off my mind and pretend cam nothing is happening. susah wey! mane x nyer, tetiba tanda tanda bendera tu semua ade. 1. perut tk lawas 2. dahaga manjang 3. panas n rimas je rs satu hr and last skali, pinggang cam ade rs mild cramping.

so satu hr ni rs x sedap bdn. nasib baik arini keje mcm x keje. ade CNY celebration. it definitely took my mind off everything.

so..... x sabar lah rase nk tau ape result die! doa for me ye everybedi..
